To whom it may concern,
Kidde and Edwards (EST) are both owned by Carrier and they share the same tech
support and customer service facilities.
The features and coverage capabilities between Kidde and EST are virtually identical
between the two brands, however one of the main differences is that they both have
two separate UL Listings. Another difference are the smoke detectors have been
microchipped not to function with EST panels by causing a trouble (though it will go
into alarm and function as a smoke).
The Kidde VM panel is a relabeled EST3X. All products from both companies are
manufactured together at the same factory but labeled differently.
