has been suffering
MY FATHER'S LIFE from some sort of
neurological disorder
for a little over a year
now. This has slowly
taken from him his
balance and use of his hands so that he
has become completely dependent. The
exact cause is not clear despite having
consulted with numerous specialists. It
seems however that the inactivity caused
by the shut-down immediately following
a surgery at the beginning of the covid
outbreak was a major factor.
He is currently working with a world
renowned neuroscientist who believes
his condition may be reversed through
special exercises and an experimental
treatment designed by the doctor (this is
a year-long study that can only be done
at home).
What is clear is that inactivity greatly
worsens his condition to the extent of
being dangerous for his health. After
having been through a number of rehab
and elderly care institutions, we learned
that these do not help but the opposite. The inactivity which is inevitable in such places for
someone who cannot walk on his own is very harmful for his condition. Boruch Hashem
with the help of many caring baalei chesed we were able to get him home with
an expert aid. The aid has worked wonders and he has been doing more than
he had in years. However he needs 24-hour care. Due to the insurance laws
in Massachusetts, they only cover a small portion of that, and the remaining
cost is enormous. Please give whatever you can.
