The Impact of Inflation
The Invisible Enemy
In addition to longer life expectancies, disappearing pensions
and healthcare benefits, and rising taxes, another challenge to
a secure retirement is inflation, also known as “The Invisible
Enemy.” With people living longer in retirement, inflation has
become a much more corrosive force for retirement income
than it was in the past. Inflation, which is a general rise in the
prices of goods and services in an economy over a period of
time, erodes the spending power of your income and savings.
As the old saying goes, “In inflation, everything gets more
valuable except money.”
