Process Observations While on Rounds

➢ Headworks – Look for unusual amounts of incoming grease, colors, oily sheen,

unusual smells (rotten egg or fuel)

➢ Aeration – Know the color and foam content of healthy mixed liquor. Dark foam

or lots of foam is not good.

➢ Secondary Clarifier – Look for bubbles coming to the surface, floating solids,

solids in the effluent, a clear scum pit

➢ Final Effluent – Look for turbidity or solids, ensure disinfection is adjusted for

higher turbidity or solids

Report all process changes observed to your supervisor and make entries in the

logbook.
