Primary Treatment
The diligent Operator must be aware of following Primary Clarifier conditions:
Know Your Flow Rate Throughout the Day
✓ Is the flow rate low, average or high?
✓ How much is the influent flow rate surging during the peak flow period?
✓ Is the flow surge pushing primary sludge over the weirs?
Observe the Primary Clarifier Surface
✓ Is the scum box clear?
✓ As you walk the perimeter of the Primary Clarifier, do you see any solids loss?
✓ Do you see gasification in the primary clarifier?
✓ Observe that the collector drive is moving smoothly
