                   Due to their nature, these lesions tend to be poorly exfoliative and cytology is often
                •
                     unrewarding. A definitive diagnosis is usually made on histopathology.
                •	  Follicular hamartoma is rare and occurs more frequently in younger dogs. It is composed
                   of aggregates of enlarged primary follicles, hyperplastic sebaceous glands and may be as-
                   sociated with a variable amount of stroma.
                •	  Trichofolliculoma is a rare benign follicular neoplasm. It may exfoliate cuboidal epithelial
                   cells (basaloid follicular epithelial cells), sebocytes, anucleated squamous epithelial cells
                   and slender stromal cells. Hair shafts may also be seen.
