MEDIOLATERAL BALANCE
When the hoof is viewed from the front:
• a line drawn across the coronary band should be parallel to the ground (Figure 6.10)
• a vertical line drawn down the centre of the cannon and pastern bones should divide the
foot into two equal halves
• when the foot is lifted and viewed from the above the heels, imaginary lines drawn down
the centre of the limb and across the heels should form 90 degree angles (Figure 6.11).
