Advantages Paste or gel is usually quick and easy to administer.
Disadvantages Some horses object to the treatment and the whole procedure becomes a
struggle. If any of the dose is wasted, the amount must be estimated and a replacement
amount given. This situation may be avoided by mixing the paste in the feed.
Warning
Moxidectin and ivermectin can have severe adverse effects on dogs and cats. Keep
syringes safely and make sure these animals have no access to feeds containing the
gel or the droppings of the horse for 3 days after worming. Wherever possible,
administer the gel directly into the horse’s mouth.
