Figure 19.6 Lateral (a) and dorsoventral (b) thoracic images of a 9-month-old kitten referred for cardiomegaly noted on abdominal
films taken by the referring veterinarian. There is generalized enlargement of the cardiac silhouette, with a convex caudal border on
the lateral view. Radiolucent tubular structures representing intestine and transverse colon are visible within the cardiac silhouette.
A mesothelial remnant is faintly visible on the lateral image (arrow). This kitten had no clinical signs relating to the PPDH.

Figure 19.7 Lateral (a) and ventrodorsal (b) images of a cat presented for vomiting. An enlarged heart was noted on abdominal films,
and thoracic images were obtained. There is generalized cardiomegaly, with a convex caudal border on the lateral view. A mesothelial
remnant is noted on the lateral image (*). (c) Nonselective angiogram of the above cat. Contrast is noted in both left and right
ventricles. The heart is displaced cranially within the pericardium secondary to the presence of a herniated liver lobe (diagnosed on
ultrasound exam).
