temperamental Brahman bulls, it was found that calm bulls had

               phagocytic and oxidative burst activity when compared to
               temperamental bulls, 48 hours posttransportation. By 96 hours,

               neutrophil phagocytosis, oxidative burst, and cell adhesion
               molecule expression were enhanced in all bulls, but the effects were
               most pronounced in calm bulls.

                  Stress can be due to something as simple as early weaning, which

               reduces IL-2 production in piglets. Stress in pregnant sows results
               in immunosuppression of their offspring. Thus confinement stress
               late in pregnancy results in the birth of piglets with T and B cells

               that have a reduced ability to respond to mitogens. Both morbidity
               and mortality are increased in piglets from stressed sows. A
