The components of blood
Blood is made up of the following.
RED BLOOD CELLS
These are also known as erythrocytes or red blood corpuscles. They give blood its red
colour. The cells contain a pigment called haemoglobin. This combines with oxygen in the
lungs and transports it to the tissues. Carbon dioxide is transported in the opposite direction.
