        breathing  are  recorded.  Sometimes  it  is  necessary  to  control  the  horse’s  breathing  via  a

        other vital signs. A catheter may be placed in an artery to monitor blood pressure and, if it

        drops,  specific  treatment  is  given.  Low  blood  pressure  during  surgery  can  result  in  major
