Diagnosis
The diagnosis is usually made on the clinical signs. A swab or a scab with the hair attached
may be sent to the laboratory for culture and microscopic examination.
Treatment
• Stable the horse until the lesions have healed. It is difficult to clear the infection if the
horse is still exposed to rain.
