TRANSVERSE (HORIZONTAL)
Transversal plane:
Divides the body into upper and lower halves.
FRONTAL (CORONAL)
SAGITTAL
Frontal plane:
Divides the body into front and back sections.
Sagittal plane:
Divides the body into left and right sections.
An anatomical plane is a hypothetical plane used to transect the body, in order to describe the location of structures or the direction of movements.
In human and animal anatomy there are three planes commonly used; sagittal, coronal and transverse.
