Case 1
There are some special
cases When using an adjective that ends
when using either with letter “Y” the formula
comparative or superlative. changed and becomes:
“Adjective + ier” for comparative
Example: Scary = Scarier
“Adjective + iest” for superlative
Example: Scary = Scariest
Case 2
The formula adjective + er/est only applies to adjectives
with one syllables.
Ex: Hot, Big, Tall, etc.
While for adjectives with two or more syllables we use:
“More + adjective + than” for comparative
Ex: … More Beautiful than …..
“The + Most + adjective” for superlative
Ex: … the most beautiful
