Before we go any further, let's get to know about Phrasal Verbs first to
enhance our knowledge. So, Phrasal Verbs are special combinations of words
that consist of a verb and one or more particles, such as adverbs or
prepositions. When these words come together, they create a new meaning
that may be different from the original verb alone. Phrasal verbs are
commonly used in everyday English conversations, so understanding them will
help you become a more confident English speaker. To create a phrasal verb,
you need to combine a verb with an adverb or preposition.
1. Verb + Adverb:
Phrasal verbs formed with an adverb often describe an action or change
of state. The adverb adds extra meaning to the verb.
Example: "Wake up"
Explanation: When you combine the verb "wake" with the adverb "up," it
means to stop sleeping and become conscious.
2. Verb + Preposition:
Phrasal verbs formed with a preposition often show a specific direction or
location of an action.
Example: "Look after"
Explanation: When you combine the verb "look" with the preposition
"after," it means to take care of or be responsible for someone or
something.
