CHILD ABUSE INVESTIGATIONS  OVER





 A COMMITMENT TO JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS



 Child abuse investigations are conducted by the Violent Crimes Unit. This group of 15 full-time
 detectives are  dedicated  to  investigate  a variety of  violent  crimes,  including  child  abuse.  Child
 abuse crimes may include sexual abuse, serious physical injury, drug exposure or child pornography.   2,400
 While some child abuse cases are investigated by patrol deputies, more severe cases are handled by
 detectives. While our goal is to expedite justice for victims, the nature of these cases are difficult and
 complex. A typical investigation can take 6 - 18 months from initial report to case closure.                  IN 2017
