CKA: Driving Excellence, Cultivating Sustainability, Igniting
Innovation
As the academic year draws to a close, a palpable sense of accomplishment and
anticipation fills the air at City of Knowledge Academy. We stand at a pivotal moment,
reflecting on the journeys completed and looking forward to the boundless possibilities
that lie ahead for our students and our school.
To our graduating Year 12 students, as their long-serving form tutor so eloquently
expressed, your transformation from "wide-eyed freshmen to confident, capable
individuals" has been a testament to your resilience, hard work, and determination. This
year, your exceptional performance was further highlighted by the remarkable number
of students who aced their International General Certificate of Secondary Education
(IGCSE) and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) examinations, a true
testament to your dedication and the quality of your education. You are a class of
trailblazers, as evidenced by your remarkable participation in the CONRAD challenge,
where your innovative solutions to global issues, from reinventing solar panels to
transforming waste into eco-friendly tiles and developing novel approaches to food
security, showcased not just academic prowess, but a profound commitment to a better
world. As you step onto the threshold of new beginnings, remember that the lessons
learned, the friendships made, and the memories created at City of Knowledge Academy
will be the bedrock of your future successes. Go forth, push boundaries, chase your
dreams, and make your indelible mark.
Beyond mere academic advancement, our unwavering commitment to a sustainable
learning environment is championed by our dedicated Facility Manager. Their emphasis
on robust facilities management underscores our dedication to providing a safe, healthy,
and comfortable space where students can thrive. This session, our students also deeply
engaged with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) projects, focusing on
practical initiatives like reuse, recycling, and maintaining a clean environment. This
hands-on approach to global challenges, coupled with our integration of sustainable
practices;from energy efficiency to waste reduction, nurtures eco-friendly habits and
instills a deep sense of environmental responsibility, ensuring our physical environment
fosters both academic excellence and a conscious commitment to our planet.
Indeed, the urgent call to action from another educator regarding "A Crisis in Plain Sight",
the escalating waste problem, resonates deeply with CKA's ethos. Our students are not
passive observers; they are "Waste Warriors in the Making." Their visits to recycling
factories and their groundbreaking projects in the CONRAD challenge exemplify our
belief that waste is not an end, but a new beginning. We are actively "planting the seeds of
a cleaner, smarter, more sustainable world," fostering the innovators, dreamers, and
doers who will conquer this challenge with knowledge, creativity, and relentless hope.
"See a waste, see a way!" becomes a guiding principle in our classrooms and beyond.
