  Star knot (six-stranded): a useful decorative knot which needs patience to begin with, but the end

  result is well worth the effort.


  Holding all six strands in your left hand, loop each one backwards, then pass each end up through the
  next anticlockwise loop (figure 129.1); see also crown knot page 57. Then crown all strands
  backwards clockwise (figure 129.2). Now take each strand, and working anticlockwise again, bring
  it back around and up under itself (figure 129.3), the effect of which is to form a second layer of six

  loops immediately above the first set. Work the knot close.


  You will notice that each strand is now lying alongside a previous bight, and lies over a pair of
