Figure of eight loop: this is the same as the figure of eight tied in a double end, except that it is formed
differently. It is of particular use when the loop cannot be dropped over a bollard, but is being tied
through a ring or eye.
Tie a figure of eight some way back along the standing part from the working end, then pass this
through the ring and back up through the lower bight of the figure of eight. Finally, pass this around
