Rockschool Guitar, Bass Guitar & Drums 2018-2024
Rockschool has published new Guitar, Bass, and Drums Grade books 2018-2024, (from Debut to Grade 8). For
the new Guitar, Bass, and Drums series Rockschool have commissioned arrangements of titles reflecting rock
and pop’s musical heritage in all its forms (including blues, rock, pop, soul, funk, R&B, jazz fusion, reggae, punk
rock, alternative rock, grime and hip hop) and have tailored each piece to make it exactly right for the Grade.
The arrangements have been written and performed by top session musicians who have worked with some of
the biggest names in rock and pop. The tracks were recorded live at Real World’s acclaimed recording studios
and feature live instruments and first rate performances for an unrivalled level of feel, authenticity, and
musicianship.
The exam structure has also remained exactly the same.
Grade Examinations consist of the following elements:
• 3 Performance Pieces: Debut – Grade 8
• Technical Exercises: Debut – Grade 8
• Sight Reading: Debut – Grade 5 (only)
or
• Improvisation & Interpretation: Grade 1 – 5 (only)
• Quick Study Piece: Grade 6 – 8 (only)
• Ear Tests: Debut – Grade 8
• General Musicianship Questions: Debut – Grade 8

Rockschool Classics Grades 1–5 and Grades 6–8 Compendiums are out now!
Rockschool Classics Guitar and Drums feature a collection of iconic rock tracks from artists including AC/DC, Eric
Clapton, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis, Black Sabbath, The Police, U2, Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, Metallica, Queens
of The Stone Age and Jimi Hendrix. The tracks have been devised for students to learn through the music they love
with repertoire arranged and benchmarked with the key technical skills required at each Grade. Students can
choose any of the tracks included in Rockschool Classics to play as Free Choice Pieces in their Grade Exam or
Performance Certificate.
Grades 1–5 contain eight of the biggest rock tracks from the past five decades. The tracks were previously
included in the Hot Rocks books which have now been rebranded Rockschool Classics and feature new covers.
Students can choose any two tracks from Rockschool Classics Grades 1 – 5 to play as Free Choice Pieces in their
Grade Exam or three to play in their Performance Certificate.
