     Letter from the publisher:
Welcome to the summer/fall edition of Senior Living Guide.
com. Our printed as well as online edition of
seniorlivingguide.com is designed to help you make the
best real estate decision as we all age gracefully into the
future. Whether you are considering living here in North
Carolina or considering options in another part of the country, our printed guides along with
our online version can help you make relevant decisions for yourself and other friends and
     family members.
This issue features a story on living well and staying in the spotlight. Of course, for the majority
of us, getting up on a stage, singing and playing an instrument is not even on the bucket list.
Let’s be honest – Celebrity style living is not part of our real life. So what is the real takeaway?
     Here are some thoughts:
        • Stay in the best shape possible! Yes, that means exercise. Run, walk, ride the bike,
go to that gym (especially if you paid for it), join silver sneakers, engage and have fun.
30 minutes of cardio activity, 3 days a week will do wonders for you mentally and
physically. And do this with friends if at all possible. It won’t feel like exercise.
        • Watch the numbers. Keep an eye on the blood pressure, especially if your immediate
family has had issues. Make your doctor aware of all this. High blood pressure is truly a
silent killer and is a big contributor to many health issues. Just take care of it!
        • Weight gain. Yes, we have heard this over and over again. But as we age, it is harder
and harder to lose weight. Make it a priority to eat better, skip the French fries, and try
kale. Okay, most of us are not that fond of that pointy leafy veggie, but find some lettuce
          leaves you like.
        • Interests and passions – so go attend that concert (they may not tour again), take that
class on finance, or just read that book for book club. It’s just not about the wine (or is
it?) Having interests and passions engages your mind and spirit. So sitting home on the
couch and watching America’s Got Talent is not on the list. But talking about the show
with your friends at the gym is!
Live and live well. And let SeniorLivingGuide.com find you the best place to do exactly that.
     All the best,

     Christina
