Your panoramic tour will include a leisurely stroll with your guide through Centro Storico, the
historic center of Rome, from the Trevi Fountain or Spanish Steps to Piazza Navona, one of the
finest Baroque squares in Europe. Centro
Storico is full of stunning Baroque
architecture and art, as well as city squares
that are both charming and magnificent.
During the seventeenth and eighteenth
centuries, Rome was the epicenter of the
art world, achieving the importance as an
artistic crossroad that Paris enjoyed at the
end of the nineteenth century.
The main players of the Baroque
movement in Rome were architects
Bernini and Borromini and the painter
Caravaggio, who left an enduring imprint on the city. You might wish to take a break at one of
the outdoor cafés that overlook the Pantheon, which is certainly one of the most outstanding and
best-preserved artifacts of Ancient Rome. It definitely would not be a mistake to make a pit stop
at Giolitti, a gelato institution that is a favorite of Romans. Near the Piazza Navona is the church
of San Luigi dei Francesi, which is a must-visit. The Contarelli Chapel within the church is
famous for housing three paintings on the theme of Saint Matthew the Evangelist by the Baroque
master Caravaggio.
We’ll share our proprietary dining guide and confirm dinner bookings throughout your program,
based on your preferences. We have proposed a couple recommendations for mom and dad to
enjoy some special dinners on their own as well.
Proposed Accommodations for 4 Nights: Hotel Splendide Royal, a classically-styled, 4.5-star
gem overlooking the gardens of the Villa Borghese from a location just 6-7 min on foot from the
Spanish Steps.
Day 2 – Sunday, July 16: Ancient Rome. This morning, reconnect with your Rome guide for
a private, guided morning tour of Ancient Rome to
include the Colosseum and Forum as well as other
sites. We’ve specified a driver for the tour as you
will visit multiple sights. While in the Colosseum,
learn about sport during Roman times including
plenty of commentary on the life and times of
Roman gladiators (of course, kids love this). You
will also admire Constantine’s Arch, one of the
triumphal arches of Ancient Rome. You will view
the Forum from the Capitoline Hill and stroll
through the remains of this remarkable space where civic buildings one stood.
