Day 4: The Kingdom of Fife. Meet Ken this morning, your private guide, who will lead you on a
very informative walking tour of the town. Ken works at the University of St. Andrews, one of the
best institutions of higher learning in the UK, and is highly knowledgeable about the history of the
town. St. Andrews was once a major ecclesiastical center and is, of course, the home of golf! This
will be a 90-min tour to include the ruins of the castle, the University and some content on the
history of golf.
After lunch, the Gents will transfer down the coast 20 min to Kingsbarns, the favorite course in all of
St. Andrews among many of our clients. Enjoy the North Sea views from nine holes. For the Ladies,
we have included a private excursion
to Glamis Castle, located an hour
north of St. Andrews. Enjoy a
private tour of historic Glamis Castle,
which today is the home of the Earl
and Countess of Strathmore and
Kinghorne. It has been the family
home of the Earls of Strathmore since
1372, when King Robert II (the first
of the Stuart Kings) of Scotland gave
the castle to Sir John Lyon.
Throughout the years, legends and myths have grown around the castle. King Malcolm II was said to
have been murdered here in the eleventh century, and Lady Janet Douglas, widow of Lord Glamis,
was burned at the stake as a witch in 1540 by James V. There is even said to be a secret room where
a nobleman played cards with the devil himself. In any event, Glamis is a most beautiful and
fascinating place that you won't soon forget.
End the day with a relaxing spa treatment at the Kohler Waters Spa on property. We will be happy to
provide a spa menu and coordinate bookings closer to your travel dates.
Proposed Accommodations: Old Course Hotel
Day 5: An Excursion to Perthshire. In the morning, the
entire group will meet a private driver for the 90-min
excursion to Perthshire, the gateway to the Highlands,
where you will gain appreciation for the mountain scenery
for which Scotland is so famous. We have included a
private, guided visit to Blair Castle, seat of the Dukes of
Atholl and home to the Atholl Highlanders, Britain's only
private army (just a ceremonial army these days).
Established in 1269, the property is located in a highly
scenic parkland area. Blair Castle was twice besieged,
