Planned absence
Know in advance that you have an obligation or appointment that will require you to miss school? This might be:
• a driving test or other external examination (all driving lessons and theory tests should be scheduled after the end of the school day)
• university interviews
• university open days Where possible these should be scheduled at weekends
or during school holidays We will give you permission to attend a maximum
of two open days in the Summer Term of the Lower Sixth (with the exception of Prize Giving and Foundation Day) and two in the Autumn Term of the Upper Sixth Parents are asked to email requests to Mrs Puddefoot at least 48 hours in advance and you must complete an absence form on each occasion
• medical appointments that cannot be scheduled for out of school time
You need to get permission for all such leaves of absence by completing an absence form, available from Mrs Puddefoot, at least 48 hours before the planned absence Don’t forget to catch up on any work missed and if you have any duties, find a friend to cover for you
Please note: term dates are published in advance and full attendance is expected; for international boarders, full attendance is a UKVI visa requirement All requests for leave of absence for vacations in term-time must be made, in advance, to the Headmistress It is expected that no student will miss school in order to take a holiday Absence from Prize Giving and Foundation Day at the end of the Summer Term must also be approved in advance by the Headmistress
Leaving the campus during school hours

do not have a timetabled lesson Boarders may not return to their study-bedrooms until Lesson 4, except to get books and files during break time (1050 – 1110 am)
Failure to adhere to these rules will result in losing the privilege to go off campus during school hours
