Your private study time should begin with the work that your teachers set and develop into your own research and reading There should always be a new intellectual route to explore...
Private study
One of the most challenging skills to acquire in the Sixth Form is effective and self- disciplined time management Your timetable will include a number of study periods, which you should use to do extra study You may also choose to spend some of your study period relaxing in the Headington VI Café or common rooms but this should be a treat rather than the norm
To assist you in developing excellent study habits, all Lower Sixth girls will initially be supervised for their morning study periods in lessons 1, 2 and 3 You will be registered
by staff in the Headington VI Study Area, as for a normal lesson, where the same rules about punctuality and attendance apply The supervising staff will monitor your progress and will be on hand for any guidance or support you may need
By the Upper Sixth it is assumed that you will have developed excellent and self- disciplined study habits We expect you to use the study rooms diligently for your
study periods and to organise your study time for yourselves However, should any of your teachers be concerned about your private study, then you will be included in the supervised study arrangements described above, in agreement with your Form Tutor, Head of Year, the Academic Director of Sixth Form and Boarding staff where appropriate
