Investing in our future
At Headington we don’t stand still. We are continually investing in the future of current students and those who have yet to join us. Our diamond Jubilee Building, opened in 2012, is a fitting celebration of the achievements of the School in embracing new technologies and a clear acknowledgement of the demands of a fast-changing world.
Information and communication technology is a core part of our curriculum and exploiting its full potential is essential to learning and administration in most subjects. The integration of ICT into the syllabus teaches our girls not just how the world is wired, but also the ethical and legal considerations of internet use, data and intellectual property across all areas of life.
The Diamond Jubilee Building contains 13 full-size classrooms configured to accept computer suites and two Sixth Form teaching rooms fitted out as IT suites. The building is home to the Computing & ICT and our IT Services team, who oversee a purpose-built IT/data centre and server farm. Our Lower and Upper 5th forms also benefit from new form rooms here and central resources are provided for many of our Humanities staff.
The integrated resources of this landmark facility enhance the classroom-based learning experience in many ways, from the stimulating environment provided by state-of- the-art computer systems and presentation aids to the practicalities of dedicated rooms for students’ lockers and equipment storage. Consultation and thoughtful planning have provided the School with a unique resource that will stand the test of time and help to equip girls with the skills necessary to navigate the world today and tomorrow.
We are embracing change and investing in our future so that our students are fully prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. The Diamond Jubilee Building sets the standard for the future at Headington.
