The admissions process
There can be no substitute for a personal visit to the School and we encourage all prospective students and parents to visit Headington to meet staff, explore our facilities and see the School at work and play. demand for places is strong so if you are considering entry within twelve months, we recommend that you arrange an appointment to view the School and meet senior staff as soon as possible.
The main entry points to the School are at 11+, 13+ or, for the Sixth Form, 16+. Girls are occasionally able to join at other ages if places become available. Help and advice are always on hand from our friendly admissions team, who will be happy to help you arrange a visit, book your place at one of our open mornings or complete the registration process. Open events are held each term and are an excellent introduction to the School. They take place on a working school day, offering prospective parents and girls the chance to see the School in action. There is also the opportunity to talk to key staff and current students who will be happy to give you their own perspective on life at Headington.
Girls enter the School at 11+ via our own examination day and interview in December and, at 13+, through the spring common entrance examination. Sixth Form entrance examinations and interviews are held in the November before the proposed year of entry.
Overseas candidates and their families are also encouraged to visit the School, although we understand that this is not always possible. We have a strong agent
network around the world and candidates can often take entrance examinations and attend interviews in their own country.
At Headington, scholarships are awarded for academic achievement, art, drama, music and sport. These awards recognise talent and achievement and carry only a nominal financial benefit – our scholars are highly respected and enjoy a special status in the School.
The Headington Access Programme (HAP) supports talented girls who would benefit from all that the School has to offer but who may not be able to access a Headington education without some form of financial assistance. Means-tested bursaries of up to 100% of fees are available for local day girls who achieve high marks in our entrance examinations and are awarded at 11+, 13+ and in the Sixth Form.
For up-to-date information on our admissions process, including key dates and deadlines, please check our website at www.headington.org or contact the admissions team who will be happy to answer all your questions.
