Page 73 - Extinguishment of self, in search of dhamma
P. 73

But, walking in unburdenness, in lightness, we can do easily. This is because we can really experience (Translator’s note: This unburdenness, this lightness). But, when I say serene contemplation, then you will begin to search for it. When we have the atmosphere as support, it will help to sustain our state of mind well. The atmosphere is our state of mind. The constituent of serene contemplation is also simply our state of mind. Remember, when relating natural conditions, think of these two examples. I hope this is clear.
In relating natural conditions, there are more bene t than just talking and talking, then let it go. The sequencing of natural conditions that emerge is very important. This is because we will know the reasons and the origins of natural conditions. In the future, when we raise our mind into unburdenness, we will be able to do so more easily. If we say that we begin by raising the mind into unburdenness then contemplate phenomena, sometimes we may feel that today we cannot raise our mind into unburdenness at all. The mind is just still. This, you can relate—there is no need to worry. Before you relate your natural conditions, your face already looks troubled. Today you cannot raise your mind into unburdenness at all... there is no need to relate that because your face already reveals it.
The method is: If you have problems, relate them! These natural conditions (problems) are not dif cult to resolve, but we should have the intention to resolve them.
