spasmodic. Then, we will be irritated with ourselves—why are we not progressing? Sometimes, we do not know the extensive consequence of our actions, so we should play it safe.
Therefore, when practitioners do walking meditation, I will try to avoid them. How come you do not walk on the paved concrete walkway? Do you like walking in the middle? No, I am trying to avoid practitioners. This is because, as I walk past, there will be some atmosphere affecting practitioners. Some may feel rejoiced and receive power; others may feel disturbed. They are different. I try to avoid, but sometimes it is dif cult. If practitioners see me, they can use this to contemplate, inject emptiness, so that they do not experience my presence—make my presence vanish.
Sometimes I observe practitioners do walking meditation. How they lift their feet and stride forward. Where their mindfulness is. I observe their contemplation— when they contemplate, is their mindfulness at the feet or away from the feet. But, I observe from afar, not wishing to disturb them. But, if they look at me with a querying face, then sometimes I will just tell them straightaway. Or, sometimes I will avoid them, allowing them to search for the natural conditions  rst.
