 An Evening of Tradition
The Colorado Emerald Society (CES) brings a rich tradition of honor, heritage and ceremony to every event they attend, and their presence at the Douglas County Community Foundation Heroes Gala elevates the evening to something truly extraordinary.
CES is a volunteer organization comprised of more than 70 active or retired members from the fire service and law enforcement throughout Colorado. The band’s primary purpose is to honor fallen firefighters and law enforcement officers, while also preserving the Celtic heritage of their professions. Their ceremonial pipes, drums and formal dress create an atmosphere of reverence and celebration, paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our community’s heroes in a way that is both powerful and deeply moving.
Since the Heroes Gala inception three years ago, CES has brought the stirring sound of bagpipes, the precision of their procession, and the symbolism of their traditions—adding a sense of timelessness to the Heroes Gala, reminding us that honoring our heroes is a tradition worth preserving. Their participation sets this event apart, making it an unforgettable evening of gratitude, pride and community spirit.
         An Evening of Purpose
The American flag pins at each place setting this evening were proudly worn by a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy while on duty––a gesture of recognition and appreciation for your generous support of DCCF.
This powerful symbol represents our nation’s history, ideals and national identity. The colors, too, have meaning: red stands for hardiness and valor, white for purity and innocence, and blue for vigilance, perseverance and justice––all values embodied by the first responders, military personnel and veterans we celebrate this evening. Please wear this pin in honor of them.
