Trash
Trash and recycling collection is one of the valuable amenities provided by the Castle Pines Homes Association (CPHA) and is paid for out of the monthly maintenance assessments. Waste Management (WM) is the contracted service provider for all trash and recycling collection within the Village.
Trash Collection Policy –
• Trash is collected twice each week on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday, depending upon where you live.
• Holidays occur throughout the year and may impact your collection day. If your service day falls on or after a holiday, your service will be delayed by one (1) day. Regular service will resume the following week. Service will not be delayed if the holiday falls on a Sunday. Service holidays include New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
• Trash cans are not permitted in the Village.
• Only trash bags may be placed curbside. The CPHA
recommends contractor type, black trash bags. Please do not use the white kitchen bags, as they are extremely vulnerable to birds and other wildlife.
• Place curbside by 7 am, but not earlier than 5 am on the day of pickup. Trash may not be put out the night before.
• Waste Management (WM) will pick up a maximum of 10
trash bags per residence.
• If you have large items to dispose or more than 10
trash bags, contact WM customer service at (303)
797-1600 to schedule a special pickup. There may be a fee associated with this additional service.
What to do with Landscape Waste –
WM will take branches and limbs as long as they are cut into sections 4 feet long or less and tied into bundles. Landscape materials that are put out as trash for WM may only be placed on the curb on the day of pickup and no earlier than 5 am. You may place these items next to your house until pickup day, but you may receive a notice of violation and fine if you put them out on the curb before then.
Holiday Tree Disposal –
Holiday trees may be recycled by WM on trash day and must be placed outside of trash container no later than 7 am, and may be no longer than 4 feet in length and 12
inch in diameter. If longer, it must be cut in half. To recycle holiday trees, remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, garland, plastic wrap, tree stands,
wire, rope and nails before recycling. Trees that have been sprayed with artificial snow are not accepted.
Trees may also be disposed of at free facilities located throughout Douglas County. For additional information, visit
