FUTURE RIDGEGATE DEVELOPMENT IS COMING INTO VIEW.
In early February 2018, the City of Lone Tree City Council unanimously approved important planning documents that will guide the development of more than 2,200 acres over the next several decades in the mixed-use, master-planned RidgeGate community on the east side of I-25.
Sub-Area Plans were approved for the 400-acre Lone Tree City Center and 1,800 acres of residential and mixed-use villages. The City Center plan calls for a highly walkable and bicycle friendly urban center that could support up to 50,000 new jobs. Development will include a grid of streets and two light rail stations on the RTD Southeast Rail Line, already under construction and scheduled to open in early 2019. You’ll nd a series of three distinct residential neighborhoods with integrated commercial uses and an extensive park and open space network. The plan supports up to 10,000 residential units, which would more than double the residential population of Lone Tree to as many as 40,000 residents.
Keith Simon, Executive Vice President and Director of Development for Coventry Development Corporation, says the future development will follow the same deliberate, environmentally sensitive approach as RidgeGate’s west side. “We are looking for placemaking and thoughtful urban design to be a hallmark of the continued development on the east side of I-25. This means creating diversity and walkability with mixed-use districts, and vibrancy with parks and plazas for outdoor movies, farmers’ markets and other community events,” Simon said. “We will include a variety of public spaces and places to enhance health, well-being, education and safety.”
