Single stroke rudiments
The single-stroke roll consists of alternating sticking (i.e., RLRL, etc.) of indeterminate speed and
length.

Evenly-spaced notes played with

Alternate-handed strokes with no specific
number of bounces. Sounds even and

bounce continuous. Also called a "buzz roll,"
roll "closed roll," or "press roll" (most often
when referred to in the context of drum-
set playing).
Alternate-handed strokes with three

stroke specific strokes. Each stroke can be
roll bounced or wristed. Also called a
"French roll".
