Joy
"Each piece of artwork has a story," painter Kristi Fischer explains. "It was at a rest stop in Dickinson, SD where I saw that buffalo," she chuckles (referring to one of her pieces of art).
But it was in Fargo, ND where Kristi first heard an art teacher say to her parents, "your daughter really has a gift." Though she didn't pursue art professionally, instead selecting to study Physical Therapy at the University of North Dakota and later earning her doctorate from the University of Montana, Kristi says throughout the ebb and flow of life she has always tried to squeeze in painting.
“The creative process feels like a gift; it’s personal," Kristi shares. "When I’m creating my brain is in a totally different place. It's therapeutic and healing. And my curiosity drives me."
After 34 years as a Pediatric Physical Therapist, Kristi retired in 2018 and continues to paint.

Finding in Curiosity...
Painting brings me joy.
It’s like nothing I’ve ever done before. I experience this feeling of self-contentment. I can’t always explain why I choose to paint sometimes. It’s a spark. Sometimes, I have this need to paint right now.
