When asked about his favorite part of volunteering in this way, Bennett replied:
"We get to use all the streaming equipment and cool cameras!
We asked Jackson how he explains what he does at church to his friends at school:
"Well, I tell them that I volunteer to help make a video during worship so that other people can watch it. So, for example, if they couldn't come to church or were out of town, we help to make sure they can still participate."
Do you guys realize how meaningful this ministry is to the people watching at home? Jackson replied:
"I do think we are making an impact and helping people to connect.
Bennett chimed in: "I bet people are surprised to learn that a 4th grader is doing it!"
Jackson has this advice if you've never volunteered before:
"Leap right in and try something new. If you're not good at that, try something else!...People are probably really happy to know that kids are helping to grow KOG in a direction that might not have been possible without us."

Without question, Anita Simonsen prefers to worship in-person and she grieves that she is not in the sanctuary with others. However, since a third recurrence of cancer (metastatic breast cancer) was discovered during the pandemic, Anita made the hard decision to "stay away from almost everything." In her home office, Anita joins in worship from her iPad and has found that "I listen to sermons even more carefully at home. Me and my puppy!" The thing that most connects her in this time is getting to enjoy the music in worship.
"When everything closed down in March 2020, online worship was a lifeline for us," Jane Carlson shares. "We tried to be very careful" Jane explains because her husband Bill was recovering from open heart surgery and in the fall of 2020 Jane was diagnosed with breast cancer. "I don't know life without church," she says, "it just didn't feel right without going, so boy was it timely for those who were staying home. We appreciate it!"
