Nevertheless, the buck stops with the chief executive and
Pester duly fell on his sword.
Pester said,
"The last few months have been challenging for
everyone at TSB. However, I want to thank all my
colleagues across TSB for their dedication and
commitment during this period and for their focus
on putting things right for TSB customers."
Following the news of Pester's resignation, Nicky Morgan
MP, said:
"Since the IT problems at TSB began, Paul Pester set
the tone for TSB’s complacent and misleading public
communications. The Treasury Committee, therefore,
concluded that it lost confidence in Dr Pester’s position
as Chief Executive of TSB."
IT glitches are far from uncommon both August and
September, 2018 witnessed a number of major banks
experiencing serious problems. However, TSB’s was the
most serious and the longest lasting.
Proteo4UK was obviously a botched system. Questions still
needed to be answered such as
• Who was responsible for design architecture?
• What and how thoroughly was it tested?
