This industry analysis for the
banking industry stems from
the six case studies presented
in ‘The Banks’ Case Collection.
This collection comprises case
studies taken from the U.S.
and U.K. markets. Consequently, an appreciation of the
industry in both spheres is presented here.
The banking industry plays a crucial role in the economic
growth, development and stability of economies.
Recognition of this by the regulators lead to a desire to
protect and strengthen the industry and by extension the
economy through tightening the regulations that the
banks operated under.
The 2007/8 crisis led the major banks to evaluate their
expenditure, take drastic cost-cutting steps like selling off
non-core activities and reduce staffing, and re-think their
IT strategies.
