In late August 2016, social media postings about Bresch’s compensation
package and the price hikes began to pick up pace as public opinion
went into overdrive. One online petition asking Mylan to lower the price
of EpiPens gained more than 80,000 signatures. Moreover, the dramatic
rises in the American price for the auto-injector led to some patients and
their relatives using social media to share advice on how to order the
device from New Zealand, where it is significantly cheaper.
