‘Jes’ Staley

James “Jes” Staley became chief executive officer of Barclays

plc in 2015. He was to lead the rebuilding effort of Barclays

with a strategic leadership comprising:

Paul Compton, chief operating officer;

C.S. “Venkat” Venkatakrishnan, chief risk officer; and

Tushar Morzaria, finance director.

All formerly worked at JPMorgan. However, by 2018 they

had yet to deliver the promise they brought with them.

Under Bob Diamond in 2007, the fixed-income trading

business, had more than 14% of the market share whilst

under their supervision this had dropped to 6.2%.
