The decision to exit Africa was part of this restructuring
resulted in Barclays reducing its shareholding in its
African subsidiary from 62% to 50% in 2016 with the view
to exiting completely sometime in the future (1).
However, the greatest challenge for Barclays has come in
the form of Brexit when in June 2016, Britain voted to
leave the European Union (EU), a move redolent with
political and economic upheaval and uncertainty for not
only UK based firms but also the UK economy in general.
