Production Joint Venture
In April 2001 Drambuie joined with whisky distiller
Glenmorangie to form ‘Glenaird’ a joint venture which saw
Drambuie closing its bottling plant at Kirkliston and
relocating production four miles away to Glenmorangie’s
state of the art bottling plant at Broxburn.
Both companies gained from the venture. Drambuie
substantially streamlined its operations and reduced costs
with the closure of its 100 employee plant whilst gaining
access to a state of the art bottling company which
produces premium brands whilst Glenmorangie maximized
the use of its assets through increased capacity. In addition
Glenaird catered for the supply requirements of both
companies, from whisky sourcing to bottling, warehousing
and logistics. Drambuie however, would remain a private
company, controlling its own marketing and distribution.
