The concept of sustainable development
(variously described as eco-development, self-
sustaining development or suspensory
development). Sustainable development is
based on three pillars: economic development,
environmental protection and social
development. Recently the term ―social
development‖ is being replaced as the ―socio-
cultural development‖. This concept assumes
properly and consciously shaped relationship
between the pillars, which are intended to
ensure intra- and inter-generational economic,
environmental and social balance.
