Objectives of the Unit

Upon completion of this unit, you are expected to be able to:

1. Write an announcement with the appropriate generic structure (introduction,

description of features, and conclusion);
2. Use grammar appropriately in an announcement

3. Use adjectives appropriately in an announcement

Preparing to read

Have you ever read the text on the school wall that talks about the contest? Well, the text of
about the competition is an example of an announcement text. An announcement is

something that is written, printed, or spoken verbally so that other people know that there’s

something happening or about to happen. The following is the general structure of

announcement text.

Types of Announcement Text

Generally, there are several things that can be used as main topic of announcement text:

 School Events

 Missing persons / animals / items

 Winners of a competition

 Job vacancy
 Sad news

 Inauguration / marriage / birth

 New products
