GLOBAL DREAM

Children are a force to reckon with. Global Dream is an
endeavour of Dr Sunita Gandhi towards Foundational Literacy
& Numeracy. We have a curriculum for teaching literacy to the
underprivileged. It was the children of CIS and CMS who came
el júbilo
to the forefront of the action. They willingly took up the
challenge to make at least one person completely literate
during their summer breaks.

Children watch everything you do. By giving back to the
community, you show them firsthand how volunteering makes
a difference. Altruism triggers the release of endorphins in the
brain, giving us a ‘helper’s high’. Researchers have consistently
found that people report a significant happiness boost after
doing kind deeds for others.

The Global Dream Campaign for literacy in Lucknow has
served as a demonstration value for its replication across the
country. With its conversion into 13 Indian languages, we can
perceive its potential as a major people’s movement to make
India literate.
