Marcos Lutyens United States-based British artist Marcos Lutyens engages his audiences’ experiences of art through cognitive techniques such as hypnosis. His investigations have included research with social groups such as the third-gender Muxhe, Raeilians, synaesthetes, border migrants, space engineers and mental architects. In doing so, he explores how unconscious mindsets shift across cultures and backgrounds. Lutyens has developed projects that involve our external surroundings, such as interactions with pedestrian flows, social media dialogue, air quality levels, and animal and biological intercommunication. For Culture Summit Abu Dhabi, Lutyens presented a lecture-performance that transported the audience into a deep hypnotic state through sensory synesthetic techniques utilising voice and touch. 139
