Influential Women in Irish Logistics, Transport and Supply Chain 2017
The growth of any industry is determined by the quality and diversity of its workforce. While the logistics, transport and supply chain industry remains male dominated, there has been a considerable change in the last decade. In this first edition of Linkline for 2017 we profile some of the women who have not only come to the fore but have led the way in our changing sector.
While female employment is rising at a faster rate than that of males in this country, CSO figures indicate that less than a fifth of employees in the transport and logistics sector are women. One key difficulty, and something CILT are working to combat, is the perception of the industry as a stereotypical male preserve. This, coupled with poor career expectations, unsuitable recruitment procedures and the fact that women on average are paid 20% less than their male counterparts in general (Morgan Stanley Gender Pay Gap report 2016) means a lack of gender diversity.
As an industry, we need to work to ensure these issues are tackled. In this inaugural list we celebrate15 talented professionals whose hard work and success we hope will serve as an inspiration to others and in doing so help us to build a stronger and more diverse industry.
