3. Why the Y-Chromosome Anchor Matters
The most decisive marker of readiness lies not only in cognitive genes, but in
population genetics. The Y chromosome, passed only father-to-son without
recombination, provides a clean lineage of stabilization.
When traced backward, all living Y chromosomes converge on a single paternal
ancestor. Estimates place this Y-chromosomal Adam between ~180–250 kya,
with one major study centering the date near 254 kya (Poznik et al., 2013;
Karmin et al., 2015).
This coalescence marks a genomic bottleneck: one paternal lineage persisted
while others disappeared.
Biological meaning: this is the moment the genomic architecture
stabilized — pottery clay hardened into a durable form.

map, showing when preparation reached a crucial stage before symbolic
awakening.

Just as pottery clay differs from raw dust by being prepared and durable, the
