The Ādam Paradox Hypothesis
Synthesis: The Genome as Vessel
Figure 4.1 — Synthesis: The Genome as Vessel.

From dust to clay to pottery, and from DNA to genome to ready genome, the vessel is prepared. The
Threshold of Symbolic Cognition marks its activation — when humanity crossed from biological
readiness into cultural awakening.
Table 4.2 — From Molecule to Ready Genome
Conclusion: Clay Prepared, Not Yet Fired
By ~200–250 kya, centered near ~254 kya, the human genome had become
ṣalsāl ka-l-fakhkhār: pottery clay, resonant, stable, and durable.
FOXP2 tuned speech circuits.
SRGAP2C extended plasticity.
HAR1 reshaped cortical wiring.
MCPH1, ASPM, and ARHGAP11B expanded cortical capacity.
The Y-chromosome anchored stability across generations.
This was the moment of readiness. Humanity possessed a ready genome —
not raw dust, not yet spirit, but pottery clay: refined, resonant, and enduring.
As Ian Tattersall reflected:
“Anatomical modernity long preceded behavioral modernity. Clearly, something additional
was required to cross the threshold to symbolic thought.
” (Tattersall, 2012, p. 193)
→ Bridge to Chapter 5: The clay was ready, but not yet fired. The genome
was prepared, but not yet animated. What transformed readiness into ignition?
That is the question of the next chapter.
