Doxology

One word summarizes our concept for Concordia’s Chapel: Doxology. God’s intrinsic glory and our praise
of Him is the unifying theme. Everything is from Him, through Him, to Him. He is one God, the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Spirit, and is worthy of all praise. Our design will emulate His Trinity attributes:

Order – the Father, designer of a perfect universe, maker and sustainer of life, rhythm giver

Light – the Son, illuminator of His Father’s will, redeemer of all creation, the living Word

Movement – the Spirit, hovers over creation, giver of all life; calling, convicting, regenerating

The more we understand with our mind, visualize with our eyes, and embrace with our hearts His Intrinsic
Glory, and the gift of His Grace, the better we can ascribe proper glory due to Him, the ultimate purpose for
which we were created. It is by grace through faith on the basis of His Holy Word to us that we are able to
                                 worship.
Our response is simply to praise – Soli Deo Gloria! The Chapel must capture these attributes and showcase
His majesty, His glory in the Trinity!

                                 ARCHITECT’S SOLUTION

We ask ourselves this question: Is it possible for this chapel to represent a “Physical Doxology”? Certainly,
an understanding of who God is, as expressed in “Concordia” theology, can induce a sense of wonder, aspire
to beauty, be majestic, be functionally useful, all leading to a desire to praise God in doxology. We want
the chapel to be a place that is desired to be in, to reflect, to worship, for an individual and communally.
Consequently, it must appeal to the campus wayfarer as well as campus groups, while also being open to
                                 permitted community uses.
